Hmm... What a time in politics. We have had 8 years of WTF! Citizens of foreign nations think we have a low IQ and wonder if we even care about how we are perceived by the rest of the world. I am usually not one to discuss politics. However lately the topic of politics is coming into all sorts of conversations. So tonight I am just going to ramble along my thoughts.
[Begin ramble]
I find it interesting that people are automatically labeled "conservative" or "liberal" based on their beliefs. Who came up with these labels in the first place? It saddens me that our society has become so afraid of what is different. May it be someone's skin color or their religious beliefs or their gender. What makes life interesting are these differences. To those who feel that they are above everyone else because these differences; I feel that they need to take a hard look inside. No one religion, race or gender is right. As you can guess I have been labeled a "liberal" because I am open-minded, open-hearted and open to ALL religious beliefs. I am going to continue to do what I have always done...THINK. The one thing that I am not going to do is allow dogma to dictate my choices and freedoms. So for this I am labeled a liberal. Hmm...better than a sheep.
Now some of things that have come up are about qualifications of the candidates. I really don't believe any of the presidential candidates and their choices as running mates are truly qualified. Anything can look good on paper and many can BS their way through an interview. That is what this election is...You have two people interviewing for a job. We are their employers. Besides the last time I checked my history books, George Washington and a number of our early presidents didn't have the qualifications many people are looking for. Do you think that we would have had George Washington under the current set of supposed qualifications? Probably not.
So where are we at? At the fulcrum point in society. The American people need to start being "We the People..." instead of allowing our government to trash the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. So educate yourselves..complain...demand changes be made. Otherwise the checks and balances will be gone before you know it. One thing to keep in mind is the separation between Church and State. It is there for a reason.
I hope that someday the American population pulls their brains out from where ever they have been storing them and actually use them. So get out there and vote. If you don't get out there and vote on November 4th, you can't bitch about it later.
My two cents.
[End ramble]
Now we wait for the outcome...

Wow!! I totally agree with you. That was a ramble. A totally foolish one at that. I'm glad blogs were created so every person can think their opinions and views are important, as moronic as they may be. This rant has more holes than the PGA Tour.
I'm not liberal or conservative. It's not about Republicans or Democrats. It's about being an American. If someone doesn't like America or anything about it, you have two options.
Option A- Do something productive. Write your Congressman. Volunteer.Donate money. Donate time. Walk for a cause. Pick up Trash. Thank a Vet. Don't just sit behind your keyboard. Blogging isn't productive. It's recreation. It's just computer geeks overestimating their view.
Option B- Move to Canada, Kenya, Spain, Brazil....We'll even take up a collection.
Next, just because you think you are a liberal and everyone who is not a liberal is a "sheep" then you pretty much contradicted your rant on oped-mindedness. So you are open to all races, genders, and religion as long as its liberal? Haha. And I love the inference that conservatives are sheep. Why do you perceive that as being a sheep? Because conservatives don't have new, hip, fresh ideas and thoughts? Haha like this post is a breath of fresh air. I've read or heard your points for years on MSNBC, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, CNN, and many others. So if you "liberals" have the all the same ideas, views, and beliefs, doesn't that make you a dogmatic sheep? Oh the hypocrisy. What "change" do you want? Do you have a job? Shelter? Food? Clothes? Love? Happiness? Money? Which of these do you want to "change"? If you have these then you are better than the vast majority of the world. Speaking of the world, you say they look down on us and have a negative view of America. Maybe a few do but that is a small minority. If we are so terrible and the world hates us, why do more people want to immigrate to America than ever. From almost country. From 6 continents. All jobs. All races. All languages. They are all knocking at our borders, begging for us to let them in. Seems to me they like us plenty. But you'd probably know better than those families, right?
Guess what? Your history book is pretty wrong. Very wrong actually. Which Presidents do you fell were unqualified? George Washington? I'd consider him very qualified. He was the Commander-In-Chief during the Revolutionary War. I'm pretty sure that was a pretty important one. It gave as our freedom. President Washington served as the leader of the Continental Army for 8 years. I'd count that as great experience. And he served in the military for several years before that. And he was a well-respected politician before the Revolution. And he was a leader in the colonial resistance. He was a delegate to the First Continental Congress. That is more than just a little experience. That made him the most qualified man for the job.
John Adams? Two term VP. Continental Congress Delegate. Peace Treat negotiator to England. Key role is the Declaration of Independence. Sounds quite qualified.
Thomas Jefferson? He was the main author of Declaration of Independence. He was the main mind behind creating our unique government. He is considered the greatest lawyer in colonial America. He was the Governor of Virginia. He served as Secretary of State and Vice President. He could be the most qualified President of all time.
These Presidents seem to be great choices with great experience according to my history books.
I am a proud American. A registered Republican. I love steak. I love sushi. I read my Bible daily. I love baseball. I love pro wrestling. I love a classic novel. I love comic books. I sing in the shower. I should probably exercise more. I shouldn't stay up so late. I like listening to Rush Limbaugh. I had braces. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII. My best friend is about to deploy on his 2nd Iraqi tour. I love country music. I don't get my political views from musicians. Or actors. Or anyone but me. I don't depend on my government for money. I work when I don't want to. I smile when life isn't great. I proud of who I am. And who I came from. I am American. And my vote counts just as much as yours. And God Bless America. Like He always has. And like He always will.
Hmm.. Well you obviously jumped the gun and made assumptions about my rant. Am I either a liberal or a conservative? No. I have been labeled by others because of my views on things. Both can be sheep. I do do option A and option B is just lame. My point on prior presidents was by the standards that people are throwing out today as what qualifies a person as a candidate for president or vice-president wouldn't necessarily mean that they would be qualified using those standards. Additionally I didn't say who other than George Washington and I did not mean all. That was your assumption. Oh and yes it was a ramble. My ramble that people could choose to read or not. If it wasted your time...you made the choice.
